Does it stink when I put cow dung in my worm bin? Will it smell bad?

Using Cow Manure in the Worm Bin
by: Pauly

Hello Eric,

Using Cow Manure in the Worm Bin is a topic I cover (mainly manure, in general) in the Worm Farming Revolution book.

Never use manure fresh. Make sure to let it pre-compost for a week to 2 weeks before introducing it to the worm bin.

Only add a small handful to a worm bin of 1,000 to 2,000 worms.

Be sure to place a lot of carbon material in along with the manure to offset the high nitrogen content.

There must ALWAYS be a Nitrogen:Carbon ratio of 20:1 up to 40:1. If you add too much manure, the worm bin will become hot or too acidic for the worms.

The Carbon helps to reduce this high nitrogen acidity.

Again, I have a very large manure section in the Worm Farming Revolution book.

Thanks for the questions about

All the best with the manure,
